LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
What to Know Before Booking a Courier in Tucson
Tucson has one interstate along its edge, a street grid that does all the cross-town work, and a monsoon season. These six points shape a delivery.
No Crosstown Freeway
Interstate 10 skirts the west and south sides of Tucson, and nothing like it crosses the city. East-west trips run on surface arterials such as Speedway, Broadway, Grant, and 22nd Street, with a traffic light every half mile or so.
Dip Crossings and Washes
Many roads dip through dry washes instead of bridging them. In monsoon season, from mid-June through September, those dips can fill with fast water in minutes, and couriers detour to roads with bridges.
Underpasses Downtown
The railroad cuts across the north edge of downtown, and streets pass under it. The underpasses are among the first places to flood in a storm.
Triple-Digit Summers
From late May through September, afternoon highs are routinely above 100 degrees. Perishable and heat-sensitive orders should go direct, with no time waiting in a vehicle.
Winter Season and the Gem Show
Winter visitors swell traffic from November through April. For two weeks around the start of February, the gem and mineral shows fill hotels and tents along I-10 and downtown, and deliveries nearby slow down.
The University and the Air Base
The university campus restricts vehicles on many of its interior streets, and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base controls entry at its gates. Deliveries to either need a specific building and, for the base, access arranged ahead.

TUCSON COURIER FAQ
Tucson Courier Service FAQ
How much do courier services cost in Tucson?
Price depends on the route, the stops, the vehicle, and the timing. With no crosstown freeway, a run across the city takes longer than the mileage suggests. Enter your addresses for an estimate.
Is same-day courier service available in Tucson?
Yes. Same-day delivery covers Tucson, the Catalina Foothills, Oro Valley, Marana, and Sahuarita.
Do Tucson couriers deliver to Oro Valley and Marana?
Yes. The northwest suburbs are part of the Tucson market, reached by Oracle Road and I-10.
Do Tucson couriers deliver to Phoenix?
Phoenix is a separate market about 115 miles northwest on I-10. The calculator will map any specific pair of addresses.
Can a courier deliver to the University of Arizona?
Yes. Give the building name and the nearest street or loading area, since much of the campus is closed to through traffic.
Do monsoon storms delay deliveries?
They can, for a short time. Storms flood washes and underpasses quickly and usually clear within an hour or two.
Can heat-sensitive orders be delivered in the Tucson summer?
Yes. Book a direct delivery and have the order ready at pickup, so it goes straight from your door to the recipient.
Can I schedule recurring deliveries in Tucson?
Yes. Set the days and the stops once, and the route repeats until you change it.
