LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
What to Know Before Booking a Courier in Memphis
Memphis is a freight city on a river bluff, where three states meet and trains and trucks are always moving. These six points shape a delivery.
Two Bridges to Arkansas
Only two bridges cross the Mississippi here, carrying I-40 and I-55. When one has lane closures or a wreck, the other backs up for miles, so West Memphis runs need extra time.
A City of Freight
The airport is home to one of the busiest cargo operations in the world, and Lamar Avenue and the rail yards around it are lined with warehouses. Trucks crowd those roads all day, and a pickup needs a dock door and a release number.
Trains at Street Level
Five major railroads run through Memphis, and many of their tracks cross streets at grade. A slow freight train can hold a crossing for ten minutes or more, so couriers know where the overpasses are.
Three States
Southaven, Horn Lake, and Olive Branch are in Mississippi, and West Memphis is in Arkansas. All are part of the same metro area, and the state belongs in the address.
Poplar Avenue
Poplar runs about 20 miles from the river through Midtown and East Memphis to Germantown and Collierville. Much of the city’s business is on or near it, and it is slow at lunch and at rush hour.
Beale Street and May Festivals
Beale Street is closed to vehicles in the evening, so deliveries there are made earlier in the day. Large barbecue and music festivals in May fill hotels and restaurants across the city.

MEMPHIS COURIER FAQ
Memphis Courier Service FAQ
How much do courier services cost in Memphis?
Price depends on the route, the stops, the vehicle, and the timing. Downtown to Collierville is about 25 miles, and there are no tolls on Memphis roads or bridges. Enter your addresses for an estimate.
Is same-day courier service available in Memphis?
Yes. Same-day delivery covers Memphis, Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, and Cordova, plus Southaven and Olive Branch in Mississippi.
Do Memphis couriers deliver to Mississippi and Arkansas?
Yes. Southaven, Olive Branch, Horn Lake, and West Memphis are part of the Memphis market.
Can couriers pick up from warehouses near the Memphis airport?
Yes. Give the building, the dock door, and any release or pickup number. Many docks close in the late afternoon.
Can a courier deliver to the hospitals in the medical district?
Yes. Name the hospital, the building, and the department, and add a contact. Research campuses with guard gates need the visit arranged in advance.
Can couriers deliver on Beale Street?
Yes, during the day. In the evening the street is closed to vehicles, so the courier walks the order in from a cross street.
Do Memphis couriers deliver to Nashville or Little Rock?
Nashville is about 210 miles away and Little Rock about 135. Both are separate markets, and the calculator will show whether a route can be priced.
Can I schedule recurring deliveries in Memphis?
Yes. A repeating route can cover stops in all three states, on the days and at the times you set.
