LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

What to Know Before Booking a Courier in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City runs on a numbered grid in a valley walled in by mountains. These six points shape a delivery.

  1. Addresses Are Coordinates

Streets are numbered by their distance from Temple Square, so an address such as 450 South 900 East is a set of coordinates. Leaving off one of the two directions puts a delivery in a different part of the valley.

  2. Long Blocks, Wide Streets

Downtown blocks are about an eighth of a mile long and the streets are unusually wide. A stop across the street is farther than it sounds, and mid-block entrances are common.

  3. Trains in the Median

Light rail runs down the middle of several downtown streets, including Main Street and 400 South. Left turns across the tracks are limited, so couriers approach those blocks from a particular direction.

  4. Express Lanes on I-15

I-15 has express lanes through the valley that solo drivers can use for a toll that changes with traffic. There are no other toll roads here.

  5. Canyon Roads in Winter

The roads up Big and Little Cottonwood canyons require traction equipment in winter and close for avalanche work after storms. Deliveries to the ski resorts depend on the canyon being open.

  6. Conference Weekends

Twice a year, in early April and early October, a church conference fills downtown hotels and streets for a weekend. Game nights at the arena do the same on a smaller scale.

SALT LAKE CITY COURIER FAQ

Salt Lake City Courier Service FAQ

How much do courier services cost in Salt Lake City?

Price depends on the route, the stops, the vehicle, and the timing. The valley is about 30 miles long, so a run from the airport to Draper is a real trip. Enter your addresses for an estimate.

Is same-day courier service available in Salt Lake City?

Yes. Same-day delivery covers Salt Lake City, West Valley, Murray, Sandy, Draper, and the rest of the valley.

How should I write a Salt Lake address?

Include both parts, such as 450 South 900 East, plus the city and ZIP code. The grid repeats across the valley’s cities, so the city name matters.

Do Salt Lake couriers deliver to Provo or Ogden?

Those are separate markets to the south and north along I-15. The calculator will map any specific pair of addresses.

Can a courier deliver to Park City or the ski resorts?

Check your specific route in the calculator. Canyon and mountain roads can close in winter storms, which affects any delivery there.

Can couriers pick up near the airport?

Yes. Couriers pick up from the International Center and the warehouse district west of the airport.

Do couriers deliver in snow?

Yes. Deliveries run through the winter in the valley. Heavy snow slows the benches and side streets first.

Can I schedule recurring deliveries in Salt Lake City?

Yes. Routes can repeat daily or weekly anywhere in the valley.
