LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
What to Know Before Booking a Courier in Boise
Boise is the center of a fast-growing valley, with the foothills on one side and a single interstate through the middle. These six points shape a delivery.
I-84 Carries Everything
I-84 is the only freeway through the valley, linking Boise, Meridian, Nampa, and Caldwell. Growth has outpaced it, and the stretch between Meridian and Nampa is slow at both rush hours.
Eagle Road
Eagle Road in Meridian is one of the busiest surface roads in Idaho, lined with shopping centers and medical offices. A delivery there takes longer than the mileage suggests.
The Connector
I-184, the Connector, is the main way into downtown Boise from the west. Downtown streets run in one-way pairs, and the foothills close off the north side.
Winter Inversions
In winter, cold air and fog can sit in the valley for days, and occasional snow and ice slow the Bench and the foothill streets. Deliveries continue with extra time.
No Tolls, Long Distances
Idaho has no toll roads. The next large cities are hours away, so nearly every delivery starts and ends in the valley.
Game Days and the Fair
Home football games fill the stadium beside the river and the streets around the university. The fair in Garden City in late August and events at the arena in Nampa do the same in their areas.
