LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
What to Know Before Booking a Courier in Spokane
Spokane is the largest city between Seattle and Minneapolis, built around a river gorge with Idaho 20 miles away. These six points shape a delivery.
One Freeway, East to West
I-90 is the only completed freeway and runs east to west through downtown. North-south traffic uses Division Street and other arterials, while a north-south freeway is being built in stages on the east side.
The River and the Hill
The Spokane River and its gorge cut through the city, and the South Hill rises sharply behind the hospitals. Bridges and a few steep arterials decide most routes.
Snow on the Hills
Spokane gets about 45 inches of snow in a typical winter. The South Hill and other steep streets are slow or closed after a storm, and deliveries take extra time.
The West Plains
The airport, an air force base, and large warehouses sit on the plateau west of the city. The base controls entry, and the warehouses receive by dock number and appointment.
Idaho Is Next Door
The Idaho line is 20 miles east of downtown, with Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene just beyond. Many businesses work on both sides, and the state belongs in the address.
Downtown Event Weekends
A road race on the first Sunday of May and a street basketball tournament in late June each close dozens of downtown blocks for a weekend. Deliveries downtown go the day before.
