LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
What to Know Before Booking a Courier in Seattle
Seattle is squeezed between water on both sides, so a delivery here is mostly about which bridge it takes. These six points affect cost and timing.
Two Bridges to the Eastside
Lake Washington has two crossings. The State Route 520 floating bridge charges an electronic toll that varies by time of day, and the I-90 bridge is free. Which one a route takes depends on where it starts and how traffic is running.
More Tolls Than You Expect
The State Route 99 tunnel under downtown, the express toll lanes on I-405, and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge all charge electronically. A north-south run through the city or a trip down the Eastside can include one of them.
Drawbridges on the Ship Canal
The Ballard, Fremont, University, and Montlake bridges open for boat traffic outside weekday rush hours. A bridge opening holds traffic for several minutes, which matters on a tight north-end delivery.
Yellow Curbs Need a Permit or Payment
Seattle’s commercial vehicle load zones are marked by yellow curbs and allow 30 minutes of loading. A vehicle needs either a city permit or payment at the pay station or by phone to use one.
Steep Streets and Rare Snow
Downtown, Queen Anne, and Capitol Hill are built on steep hills. They are routine in the rain, but the occasional snowfall can close them for a day or two and slow deliveries across the city.
Stadium Days in SoDo
Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park sit at the north end of SoDo, beside the main routes into downtown from the south. On game days, deliveries through the industrial district are best timed well before the crowds.

SEATTLE COURIER FAQ
Seattle Courier Service FAQ
How much does a courier service cost in Seattle?
It depends on the route, the number of stops, the vehicle, and the timing. Bridge and tunnel tolls and the time of day both affect a cross-lake or cross-town run. Enter your pickup and dropoff for an estimate.
Is same-day courier service available in Seattle?
Yes. Same-day delivery covers Seattle, the Eastside, and the cities south to Tacoma.
Do Seattle couriers deliver to Bellevue and Redmond?
Yes. The Eastside is part of the Seattle market, and couriers cross Lake Washington on I-90 or State Route 520 throughout the day.
Can a courier deliver between Seattle and Tacoma?
Yes. Seattle to Tacoma is about 30 miles on I-5, and drive time varies a lot with traffic through the Kent Valley and Fife.
Do bridge tolls affect the price of a delivery?
They can. The 520 bridge, the State Route 99 tunnel, and the I-405 express lanes are tolled, and tolls on a route are part of what it costs.
Can couriers pick up from warehouses in Kent and SoDo?
Yes. Pickups from the Kent Valley and SoDo are common. Include the dock or bay number and the hours the warehouse releases orders.
Do couriers deliver when it snows in Seattle?
Snow is uncommon, but when it falls, hills close and traffic slows across the region. Deliveries run where roads are passable and may be delayed elsewhere.
Can one courier handle stops on both sides of the lake?
Yes. A single route can combine stops in Seattle and on the Eastside. Group them by side of the lake where you can, since each crossing adds time.
