LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

What to Know Before Booking a Courier in Denver

Denver has two street grids, an airport a long way from town, and weather that can turn in an afternoon. These six points affect a delivery.

  1. Streets Downtown, Avenues Everywhere Else

Downtown Denver’s grid runs diagonally, and the rest of the city runs north-south. Numbered streets are downtown and numbered avenues are not, so 17th Street and 17th Avenue are different places. The full address prevents a wrong turn.

  2. 16th Street Is Closed to Traffic

16th Street through the middle of downtown is a pedestrian and transit mall, closed to cars and delivery vehicles. Deliveries to addresses on it are usually made from the cross streets or the alleys behind.

  3. The Airport Is 25 Miles Out

Denver International Airport sits far northeast of the city, about 25 miles from downtown. An airport-area pickup or delivery is a long run by itself, and Peña Boulevard is the main road in.

  4. E-470 and the Express Lanes

E-470 loops around the east side of the metro area and is tolled electronically by transponder or license plate. Express lanes on I-25, US 36, I-70, and C-470 also charge a toll that varies with traffic.

  5. Snow, Hail, and Fast Changes

A sunny morning can turn into a snow squall or a hailstorm by afternoon, with snow mostly from fall through spring and hail in early summer. Main roads are cleared first, and stops on side streets take longer after a storm.

  6. Game Days and the Stock Show

Coors Field, Ball Arena, and Empower Field at Mile High all sit beside downtown, and the National Western Stock Show fills the north side for two weeks every January. Deliveries nearby go best before the crowds arrive.

DENVER COURIER FAQ

Denver Courier Service FAQ

How much does a courier service cost in Denver?

It depends on the route, the number of stops, the vehicle, and how soon you need the pickup. Long runs to the airport or along E-470 cost more than a trip across downtown. Enter your addresses for an estimate.

Is same-day courier service available in Denver?

Yes. Same-day delivery is available in Denver and across the metro area, including Aurora, Lakewood, Centennial, Westminster, and Broomfield.

Do Denver couriers deliver to the Tech Center and the southern suburbs?

Yes. The Denver Tech Center, Greenwood Village, Centennial, and Lone Tree are covered, mostly by way of I-25.

Can a courier pick up near Denver International Airport?

Yes. Couriers pick up from warehouses and offices in the airport’s business parks. Because of the distance from town, an early request leaves the most room for a same-day delivery.

Can couriers deliver to businesses on 16th Street?

Yes. Since 16th Street is closed to vehicles, the courier parks on a cross street or in the alley and walks the order in. A suite number and a contact name speed that up.

Do couriers deliver when it snows?

Yes, in most storms. Expect longer drive times and slower stops, and in the heaviest storms deliveries may be held until roads are plowed.

Do Denver couriers deliver to Boulder?

Boulder is a separate market from Denver. Routes along US 36 toward Broomfield and Louisville are part of the Denver area, and the calculator will map any specific address.

Can I set up a recurring route in Denver?

Yes. A route can repeat on the days you pick, and you can keep the couriers you prefer on it.
